Great Homage

The animation is amazing. The various ways in which the scenes were cleverly laid out (SNES buttons popping up as pedestals, transitions to new worlds) were top notch.

I'm still not entirely sure if I like the song in this one better than the other versions or not. Regardless, it is still very good and I am downloading it now.

The absolutely high amount of homage to SMRPG is the highlight of this piece. Every little character, and every little nuance, from SMRPG is given its respects here: Grate Guy's casino, every boss, Johnny, the surprise monster from inside chests, the pattern of the Forest Maze, Toadofsky and the tad poles, even the little flat blocks that the carrot enemy is standing on, the pause screen, Booster capturing the Princess, running up the mountain (even had Mario's jump and run just perfect!), the world map with an exact route through the game, the couple from Marrymore, everything!

Every bit of this video is just bursting with that "uniquely Super Mario RPG charm" that no other game quite has.

Great game.

I believe this game encompasses many of the key elements of great game design. Its got substance, bonuses, decent length, lots of replay value, action, exploration, and its also just plain fun.

I also love how the game creates its own unique universe that is very much based on the real life event of mass extinction. Just the terms that are used make you forget its a game in the traditional sense. DNA improvements instead of experience points, Time Shifts instead of traditional "lives", milestones instead of levels.

Its got traditional arcade style bonuses too, such as a combo system (dactyl chain) and gathering of points (bones) to unlock new modes that make the game harder or easier depending on your choice, and the "death surf" feature really gets your heart racing.

The game also has a sense of urgency. You really have to run or you will die! And you are the only one who can save that poor dino's life. Its also interesting that no one else has ever tapped into the dinosaur extinction event for a game synopsis (that I'm aware of).

I was thinking that this would make a great game for WiiWare and 360 Arcade. Charge a small fee for the console version and include the hats and donation bonuses with it, so that the price is fair to PC users. And the possibility of linking the multiplayer from the Wii, PS3, 360, and PC version to all be compatible with each other would be great! Its a possibility I suppose.

FUCK YES.

Loving every second of it. Its really got that dungeon crawler experience to it. This is the song of my dreams and nightmares.

You feel as if the melody itself is going to creep up on you and stab you. The heavy use of strings, flutes, and organs gives it that renaissance feel.

I encourage, nay implore you to continue on this path.

Fuckin' Jazzy as Hell

Jazzy as hell. Diggin it. I'm definitely using this piece some where.

Peptotrippin responds:

I can dig that!

I encourage it, fool.

Wow

Yeah, I think I like this one better. And the other was catchy too.
